Jewish Quarter Guided Tour

At 18:45h you will have the opportunity to enjoy a guided tour of the Jewish Quarter, UNESCO “World Heritage Site” since 1994, and the most visited area of the city. We will stroll along its narrow winding streets and get to know some of its most outstanding landmarks. The tour will end at the Royal Stables (next to the Alcazar -Fortress-), known for having witnessed the birth of the Spanish thoroughbred horse, where our traditional Wine Reception will take place (20h).

Thursday, 18th October:

Guided tour of the Mosque-Cathedral

Mosque-Cathedral

On Thursday at 17:30h we will enjoy a 1-hour guided tour of the Mosque-Cathedral, UNESCO “World Heritage Site” since 1984. Landmark of our city, this building evidences the magnificence of Córdoba as capital of the Muslim world, as well as the superimposition of the various cultures (Roman, Visigoth, Muslim, and Christian) that have inhabited the city throughout history.

 

 

 

Flamenco Show

At 20:30h, you will have the chance to enjoy the best flamenco in town at the Salón de Actos of the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras (right after the AELCO Board Meeting, and just before the Conference Dinner). Don’t forget to bring your ID badge with you…

Rafael del Pino, also known as Keko, was born in Córdoba, Spain, and is a dancer of great character who has performed in various companies and worked in collaboration with artists such as Cristina Heeren, Javier Barón, María Pagés, Eva La Yerbabuena, Javier Latorre. He has been awarded on numerous occassions for his neat flamenco dance such as the 2nd Prize at Concurso Nacional del Cante de las Minas in 2000, the 1st Choreography prize in the ensemble modality at Concurso de la Perla de Cádiz in 2001 and 2005. Internationally, he has performed as a guest artist with renowned flamenco artists such as Vicente Amigo, in Japan, France and Italy, with Manuel Moreno and Manuel Silveria in Paris and Strasbourg, with Manolo Franco and Niño de Pura in Spain and Mexico, with Julián Estrada in the recording and performance of Reflejo de Luna y Sal and Nélida Tirado at the Joyce Theatre in New York. He directed and choreographed two shows presented at Alma Andalucía Dance and the Nissay Theatre in Tokyo. Since 2003 Rafael is a tenured teacher in the speciality of flamenco at the prestigious Conservatorio de Danza Luis del Río in Córdoba.

Friday, 19th October:

Extra virgin olive oil tasting

We are pleased to inform you that our breakfast will be golden because luxury comes sometimes in liquid form, and golden colour may, at times, have a green shade as the world-known extra virgin olive oil by Almazaras de la Subbetica.

 

Closing ceremony event

After the closing ceremony, you will have the opportunity to join a guided walking tour in Roman Córdoba, city centre and selected patios of the FLORA FESTIVAL, which will take you to the concert room of Fundación Cajasur (C/ Reyes Católicos, 6) to witness a piano performance by the composer and pianist Andrés Carlos Manchado López under the title “Cantabrana. Concierto para piano” at 20h.

The concert will have the peculiarity of being the pianist’s own creation, improvised at the moment and without a previously composed score, and inspired by the painting series Biblical Vision (Visión Bíblica) created by a a famous painter from Córdoba.
