PhD in Biology, University of Sevilla (1980).
Research at the Solar Energy Research Institute (EEUU, 1980-1982), Carlsberg Laboratory (Denmark, 1982-1985), University of Cordoba (1985-present).

 

Principal investigator of research projects (Plan Nacional de I+D+i, European Commission, Excellence projects-Junta de Andalucia).
Coauthor of 60 scientific publications and of a patent registered in Europe, US and Japan.
Has directed 15 PhD theses.
Co-founding member of the companies BIOVET-UCO (1990) and CANVAX S.C (2000). President of the Microbiology group of the Spanish Society of Microbiology (2004-2008). Member of the panel of experts for evaluations of the Spanish MEC, MICINN, Agencia Nacional de Evaluacion y Prospectiva (ANEP), Agencia Nacional de Evaluacion de la Calidad (ANECA). Referee for several scientific journals. President of the Commission for Postgraduate Studies (2005-2006), Vice-chancellor of Internationalization and Cooperation (2006-2010), Member of the Commission for Research (2002-2005), and of the Consejo de Gobierno of the University of Cordoba (2002-2010). R+D+i coordinator for the International Campus of Excellence on Agrifood (June 2010-2011).
Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis in Fusarium oxysporum, as well as transcription factors regulating lytic enzymes, protein glycosylation and cell wall biogenesis in filamentous fungi.
