Cristobal Romero is Full Professor of Computer Sciences and Numerical Analysis department in University of Cordoba. His research labor is developed as a member of the Knowledge Discovery and Intelligent Systems (KDIS) research group, the Andalusian Research Institute in Data Science and Computational Intelligence(DaSCI) and it is focused on Educational Data Science (EDS), Educational Data Mining (EDM) and Learning Analytics (LA). He is senior IEEE society member and he was a foundator IEDM society member International Educational Data Mining Society.

He was pre-selected as Highly Cited Computer Science Researcher by Thomson Reuters in 2013 (Docampo & Torres-Salinas, 2013) .

One of the 33 authors from University of Cordoba included in the 100,000 top-scientists list developed by University of Stanford.

He is the 2020 WINNER of The Prof. Ram Kumar Educational Data Mining Test of Time Award
