María Dolores Sicilia Criado

Full Professor, Analytical Chemistry Department, University of Córdoba

Biography

María Dolores Sicilia Criado is Full Professor and Head of the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the University of Córdoba (Spain). She got her BS in Chemistry in 1988 and the PhD in 1993 in this University. Her entire research career has been in the field of Supramolecular Chemistry. Her early research focused on the use of micellar catalysis to improve the performance of kinetic methods of analysis, she later devoted to the development of analytical methods based on the measurement of aggregation parameters and finally, for the last 20 years she has been working on extraction processes with supramolecular systems. In this context she has developed new supramolecular solvents and extraction methods based on the use of supramolecular solvents and adsorbents for application in analytical and industrial processes. She is author of 63 scientific articles that have received nearly 2000 citations (h-index=23) and 5 book chapters on the use of supramolecular systems in analytical processes. She has presented 50 papers at national and international conferences, has directed 7 doctoral theses and numerous final masters and degrees works. Her activities of transfer of knowledge have focused on extracting bioactive compounds from microalgae for the pharmaceutical and food industry. She participates in several research projects and contracts with public organisms and private companies and is author of a patent on the extraction of carotenoids using nanostructured liquid phases.
