Noelia Caballero-Casero
Juan de la Cierva researcher, Analytical Chemistry Department, University of Córdoba
Noelia Caballero-Casero joined the SAC group in 2012, when she obtained the Research Staff Training (FPI) grant from Spanish Ministry. As a result, in 2016 she defended her Doctoral Thesis, focused on the development of new analytical methods based on the use of supramolecular solvents (SUPRASs) for the simplification of the sample treatment stage for the determination of organic compounds in complex matrices. She got the highest qualification and the special mentions Cum Laude and International PhD. With the purpose of deepening the chemicals human exposure assessment field, in 2018 she joined Toxicological Center (Belgium), where she participated in the HBM4EU European project, among others. Through her collaboration with different international projects she made research stays at the University of Seoul (Republic of Korea) and RECETOX (Czech Republic). After a short stay at the University of Salamanca (postdoctoral position in competitive call) in 2020, she joined again the SAC group in January of 2021. Currently, her research interest is focused on the design of new SUPRAS and their application to the extraction of organic contaminants for chemical exposure assessment and bioactive compounds from agrifood matrices. Her research has resulted in 33 articles published in peer-reviewed journals, 1 book chapter and 11 oral contributions and 20 poster contributions in inter(national) conferences. She has been granted an international patent. She is also actively involved in science dissemination activities as part of ¨Nosotras respondemos¨, a weekly scientific consultation, sponsored by the Dr. Antoni Esteve Foundation and the L’Oréal-Unesco ‘For Women in Science’ program, which answers the readers’ questions of the national newspaper ¨El País ¨about science and technology.
