About me
Dr. Ángela I. López-Lorente is Assistant Professor at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, University of Córdoba (UCO, Spain). She has been Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral researcher at such department as well as Humboldt postdoctoral research fellow for two years at the Institute of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry at Ulm University, Germany, at the group of Prof. Boris Mizaikoff, working on infrared spectroscopy for protein analysis. She received her Ph.D. in Chemistry (2013) (Thesis dissertation: Analytical contributions to the characterization and determination of nanoparticles) as well as M.Sc. (2009) and B.Sc. (2008) in Chemistry degrees at the University of Córdoba. She has performed short-term research stays at the University of Bari (Italy, 2016), Uppsala (Sweden, 2015) and Ulm (Germany, 2011).
Her research topics include characterization and determination of nanomaterials as well as their use as analytical tools e.g. in sensors and for surface enhanced vibrational spectroscopy. She has co-authored more than 30+ publications, several book chapters and two books and co-edited a book on gold nanoparticles. She has received awards for her doctoral thesis from the Spanish Society of Applied Spectroscopy, Andalusian Analytical Chemical Society and Lilly Company as well as extraordinary PhD prize from UCO, Jacobo Cárdenas Prize (UCO) and the Spanish National Award on Graduate studies on Chemistry, among others.
She has experience in teaching laboratory courses in Analytical Chemistry within the degrees of Chemistry, Science and Food Technology and Biochemistry. She has also participated in the training of research beginners and has been co-director of a doctoral thesis. She got the degree “Expert in Training of University Teachers” and is accredited as contracted doctor lecturer by ANECA.
She has acted as referee for 30 journals, including Analyst, Anal. Chim. Acta, Anal. Chem., Sensors, RSC Adv., Anal. Methods, etc.
Moreover, she has participated in dissemination activities, such as the “Paseo por la Ciencia”, European Reserchers’ Night and “Ingenios en ruta” activities in Córdoba.
