About me
Marisol Cárdenas Aranzana studied Chemistry in the University of Córdoba and obtained her BSc degree in 1992 and the Ph.D. degree in 1996 with European Mention and doctorate award. She has developed her professional career at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, first with a predoctoral grant, then as Associate Professor (1998-2002), Assistant Professor (2002-2009) and since 2009 as Full Professor.
Her research interests comprise microextraction techniques, including the development of new approaches, synthesis of novel nanomaterials based on carbon, metallic nanoparticles, and polymers. She has co-authored 258 scientific articles that have been cited 8362 times (h-index= 51). She has also contributed to 16 book chapters on different topics (automated systems, microextraction techniques, nanomaterials, ionic liquids or aptamers), an ebook entitled “Microextraction Analytical Techniques” (2017, Bentham) and a book entitled “Analytical Sample Preparation With Nano- and Other High-Performance Materials” (2021, Elsevier). She has presented 170 communications at national and international conferences under different formats. She has participated in regional (3), national (8) and European (5) R&D projects.
She teaches different facets of Analytical Chemistry in the Degree of Chemistry and Analytical Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in the Interuniversitary Master Degree in Chemistry. In addition to several Degree and Master Thesis, she has co-supervised 16 Doctoral Thesis, 12 with European/international mention and 4 with doctorate award.
In the context of scientific transference, she has participated in 7 contracts with national and international companies and one patent. Also, she is involved in a collaborative agreement with The Florida International University.
She has participated in different evaluation programs acting as regular reviewer of the Spanish National Evaluation and Foresight Agency (ANEP) and external reviewer for the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology and the Agencia Nacional de Promoción Científica y Tecnológica (ANPCyT, Argentina). She has also been member of the expert panel for the evaluation of researchers in different national programs (FPU, Juan de la Cierva, Torres Quevedo). She was president of the A3 Committee (Chemistry) of the Spanish National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA).
Concerning management responsibilities, she has been Secretary of the Department of Analytical Chemistry (1/08/2003-31/03/2014) and member of the Master and Doctorate Commission of the University of Córdoba. She is a member of the sub-committee of the Interuniversitary Master program in Chemistry. She acts as a reviewer of different scientific journals of the Analytical Chemistry area and has been guess co-editor of two special issues of the journal Trends in Analytical Chemistry devoted to “Fast Response Analytical Chemistry” and “Modern Qualitative Analysis” and one of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry devoted to “Microextraction Techniques”.
