The 8th GENVCE Innovation and Transfer Conference, the benchmark event for the extensive crops sector in Spain, has served as the setting for a presentation of the European LIFE Innocereal EU project.
The event took place at the Palau de Congresos de Lleida during the Technical Forum on Extensive Winter Crops, where Francisco Márquez, PhD in Agricultural Engineering and technical manager of the Rabanales Experimental Farm of the University of Cordoba, was in charge of explaining the objectives and planned actions of LIFE Innocereal EU for the next three years.
During his speech, Márquez highlighted how this project “aims to facilitate the transition towards the production of low-emission cereals in Europe through technological innovation, improved environmental and economic profitability and the revaluation of the industry throughout the entire production chain. Thus, the project partners have carried out the development and promotion of innovative actions such as a real-time weed detection bar, decision support systems for farmers through satellite tracking or sustainable management with the implementation of direct sowing, among other actions”.
Another of the objectives of LIFE Innocereal EU is the development of a quality and sustainability certification of low-emission cereals to improve the competitiveness of producers of common wheat, durum wheat and malting barley.
The technical manager of the UCO announced “the launch of a Manual of Good Agricultural Practices, developed within the framework of the project, on which the certification of low-emission cereals will be developed”.
Cultiva 23 Day
The project was also present during the celebration of the Cultiva 2023 conference, an unmissable event for those interested in the agricultural sector and who wish to keep up to date with the latest advances, news and trends in the field of extensive crops, which as every year took place in Sádaba (Zaragoza). For this purpose, LIFE Innocereal EU had a marquee, in which material was distributed, and which was attended by many people interested in learning about this initiative.
