Presentation to beneficiary partners on the progress of the project

The members of the University of Cordoba, coordinators of the LIFE Innocereal EU project, met on 22 March with the associated beneficiaries in order to report on the progress of the different activities carried out in the first 6 months of the project.

One of the issues addressed during the meeting was to reach a consensus on the latest modifications that have been added to the initial draft of the Manual of Good Practices for cereal production. These Good Practices are already being implemented in the Rabanales pilot farm and the demonstration farms located in different parts of the Iberian Peninsula.

The Manual includes a description of 11 Good Practices together with a series of technical recommendations to help farmers implement them and the social, economic and environmental benefits they bring.

Finally, José María Basanta, Secretary General of the AETC, commented on the current status of the certification process for sustainable low-emission cereals in order to guarantee compliance with the Good Practices developed in the Manual, with the possibility of certifying the harvested grain through an accredited certifier. This certifier is developing a set of conditions with the Good Practices that must be strictly complied with and the score for each one of them that will be necessary for correct application and subsequent certification.
