María Isabel Martínez Macías has been awarded the Jacobo Cardenas Torres Prize in recognition of her work "A DNA 3 phosphatase functions in active DNA demethylation in Arabidopsis", published in the prestigious journal Molecular Cell. The prize committee highlighted the uniqueness of its scientific content, the quality of the journal in which has been published and the citations of these results by other authors.
Maria Isabel has a degree in biochemistry and performed her PhD thesis in the group of Epigenetics and DNA Repair, Department of Genetics, University of Córdoba. She is currently a postdoc at Sussex University (UK).
